Principal horseman and lead facilitator Christina Keim, M.Ed., M.F.A., is a life long equestrian with experience in multiple disciplines, including eventing, jumpers, hunters and hunter seat equitation, dressage, and competitive distance riding. For nearly two decades, she mentored undergraduate students at a top New England university as an educator and academic advisor, and served as head coach of their hunt seat equestrian team. During that time, she learned that the most important lessons that horses teach us have very little to do with riding.
A life long student of equestrianism, Christina is lucky to have ridden extensively with mentors Denny Emerson and Rachel Greene-Lowell, as well as Verne Batchelder and Beth Adams. Additionally, Christina has participated in clinics with many equestrian luminaries, including Conrad Schumacher, Linda Allen, Jan Ebeling, Greg Best, Kim Severson, Amy Barrington, Nona Garson, Cindy Canace, Jen Verharen, Kathy Connelly, Jeremy Steinberg, Kip Fladland, Tik Maynard, Nancy Guyotte, and more.
While equestrian competition has been part of Christina’s experience, it is truly the day to day work with each individual horse that brings her the greatest joy. Every horse is a unique being, and building a relationship of trust, confidence, calmness and compassion is essential in everything we do at Cold Moon Farm.
Some of Christina’s proudest equestrian accomplishments have come from the performances of horses she partially or wholly developed herself. These achievements include:
- US Eventing Association Reserve Champion Area I Novice Championships (Carmel)
- US Dressage Federation Region 8 Champion Second Level Musical Freestyle (Weltinus)
- Green Mountain Horse Association 100 Mile Competitive Trail Ride (twice) (Liatris)
- American Connemara Pony Society Award of Excellence in Dressage, and Silver Medals in Jumpers and Eventing (JEF Anna Rose)
Other notable achievements:
- US Dressage Federation “L” program graduate
- US Dressage Federation Bronze Medalist
- OK Corral Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy/Equine-Assisted Learning Certified
- US Pony Clubs Graduate H-A (Squamscott Pony Club)
Christina currently serves as the president of the New Hampshire Horse Council, and is the coordinator for Strafford County Equestrian Trail Riders.
